Congratulations! You have finally reached retirement! Now is the time for you to focus on yourself and enjoy life. There is no better way to do that than by traveling. Here are some tips to maximize your money and time while traveling in style.
- Check out AARP Travel Center. Use your senior discount to find great deals on trips, cruises, flights, and entertainment. This site can help you with everything from booking hotels to travel insurance; you can also receive discounts on activities at your destination. Get out those AARP cards and travel in style!
- Now that you’ve looked at travels deals and hopefully used your AARP member discount, create a list of activities you might like to try. If you want to visit museums or learn about art and history, check out Washington D.C. If you would like to participate in water activities, such as jet skiing or scuba diving, maybe Hawaii is the place for you!
- Once you have chosen your destination, you will need to make travel arrangements. The optimal time to book airfare is 27-114 days before departure; the lowest rate will appear approximately 47 days before departure.
- Lastly, one of my favorite things to use is Groupon. They have great deals on spas, restaurants and entertainment. All you have to do is type in the place you’re heading to and the deals with show up. This is one of the best ways to maximize your money.
