The senior population of china is reaching critical mass. The children of the retirees are no longer able to take care of mother and father due to new cultural norms. As a consequence the government is planing on adding 3.4 million beds for its seniors by 2015. By 2050, that number will be at a high of 450 million. That means a retirement in China is part of a new frontier, with no rules and high expectations.

It’s funny how life can swing around from unexpected corners and surprise you. Recently I was idly surfing the web and saw a news report about school kids from Compton, California (a rough piece of real estate near L.A. where violence is a daily fact of life) who had been given the opportunity to learn to fly by way of an organization called “Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum”. Not only are they encouraged to explore studies that they would not be exposed to in normal schools, they are held accountable for their actions….they have to work at the hanger, maintain grades and so forth in order to advance through flight school.

Prison populations are aging quicker than other populations due to stress, diet, lack of proper diet, education and a variety of other factors. How do we take care of an aging prison population? An innovative program program in California tries to find solutions.
